Ahmed Belal is an associate professor of pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry in the faculty of pharmacy in Alexandria Egypt for the last 2 years. Before that, he was an assistant professor in the same department and institute for 5 years. He received a PhD in protein engineering and biological chemistry from the lab of Professor Dr. Robert Campbell of the Department of Chemistry from University of Alberta- Canada. His pedagogical experience involved teaching medicinal, organic and forensic chemistry courses for both undergraduate and graduate students in the past 7 years in 3 universities. He supervised a number of MSc and PhD students, of which 3 MSc and 2 PhD students already graduated. His research experiences involved undergraduate/graduate students, faculty colleagues and even local and international collaborators (From Lebanon, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Czech, USA and Australia). He was the co-corresponding author for more than 10 publications that were published in 2018 till 2022 in Q1-ISI Clarivate journals for e.g., European Journal of medicinal chemistry, Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and biomolecular spectroscopy, Journal of enzyme inhibition and medicinal chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, etc…. His research background involved molecular biology, protein engineering, heterocyclic synthesis and bioanalysis. His research right now is focused on developing multi-targeting ligands for treating multifaceted disorders like inflammation, cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.
